Please don’t reblog my work, deleted the credit and use it for your blog’s sexual exploits.
Glad to see you're doing so well in the art world C: I was just wondering how were you able to get yourself out there, as in how did you promote yourself and obtain all these opportunities?
Hey! Thanks for the question! It’s a really good one and I am delighted to answer it.
The way I sort of captain the vessel that is my freelance career is first through having work I can get behind and a solid commitment to putting myself out there. Both are incredible difficult to do! Something that I have learned pretty quickly on is that it does not matter if it is right, but that it is good. You can interpret that as you may. A few more things that are ultra important are to be professional, approachable, and most importantly consistent! SOCIAL MEDIA IS VERY IMPORTANT! I use Tumblr, Twitter, Behance and Instagram, plus portfolio website and a store on Society6 to show my work. I also attend illustration conferences and comic conventions so I can turn those amazing connections I’ve made on social media into real life friendships, partnerships, business etc.
Lastly, be patient, it doesn’t happen overnight but if you keep at it, stay inspired and continue to have strong work, than those opportunities that come along can easily be yours.
I am figuring out all of this myself, so I hope that helps. If you have any more questions, I would be PUMPED to answer them the best I can.
I’m on the front page of Illustration Age!!!
